The World’s Greatest Fakebook

In 1994, I worked on ‘‘The World’s Greatest Fakebook’’. This book, which is published by Warner Bros. Publications, can be purchased or ordered at music stores all over the world. Each edition has over 1200 great songs, as indicated on the cover. I did all the engravings in this book and also wrote some of the arrangements, as well. The three editions of this huge music book contain a total of 2175 pages and it took me an entire year to complete this project. This was certainly one of the most monumental tasks I’ve ever had to do!

1994 This is the cover of ‘‘The World’s Greatest Fakebook’’. It was initially published in three different versions, including the ‘‘C’’ edition for concert-pitch instruments, the ‘‘Bb’’ edition for Trumpet, Tenor Sax and Clarinet, and the ‘‘Eb’’ edition for Alto Sax. I wrote a computer program that tranposed the ‘‘C’’ part to the appropriate key in the other editions. My software transposed not only the notes, but also the chord symbols and key changes.
