Surf Club - 02/14/2003 This is normally what I use on most of my gigs: I play a Korg N364 synthesizer. I use my Ultimate keyboard stand not only for my synthesizer, but also to place business cards on top of it (in case anyone is interested in booking the band) and to put my cell phone there (in case a frantic musician or singer gets lost and can’t find the place where we are playing!). To the left is a Yamaha MS101 monitor speaker which is hooked up to my synth so I can hear what I’m playing. Towards the right is a 14.1-inch XGA Flat Panel color monitor (it’s very clear and works really well) and a compact computer keyboard. Both of these are hooked up to an IBM PC that’s inside a large rack. I play the Standard MIDI files through a Korg NS5R module that has excellent General MIDI sounds. I use my own MIDI sequencing software: It has many useful features that are ideal for live performances. To the far right is a “big-band” music stand. Depending on the song, sometimes, I move over there to play the trombone (if there are horn parts).
